So I received a call from a client recently that wanted to know if their solar panels are covered in their insurance policy. The simple answer to that is yes.

However, it is your responsibility to notify your agent that you did have solar panels installed or they do exist in your house. If you’ve had them for some time and are not sure if they are covered on your policy, always give us a call or your agent to make sure that you are properly insured to cover those.

The coverage is found under the dwelling amount. We do need to know the amount of panels you had installed and if you don’t have a recent receipt, we’re going to want to run a new replacement cost to make sure you’re properly insured to cover those solar panels in the event that they are covered by a cover loss in your policy.
